FEATURED RACE: April 20: Cottonwood Vintage Run: Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, 2 Mile (Cottonwood Riverfront Park): Runners looking for fast times will enjoy these races. The Half Marathon climbs some to Tuzigoot National Monument, then glides through Dead Horse Ranch State Park. The half marathon course is predominantly paved, with some trail. The 10K is fast through Dead Horse Ranch, with just one significant hill. The course record for the half is held by Flagstaff ultrarunner Tim Freriks at 1:11:14. In 2022, German ultrarunner and doctor Paul Schmidt-Hellinger clocked a speedy 1:13. Flagstaff’s Will Drexler has won the half twice.
