Saturday’s Pro and Trail Race Results: Ejore, Snowden Get 1,500 Olympic Standard at L.A. Grand Prix; Conley Wins Brooklyn Half; Ostaszewski Takes Georgia 100 Miler

Day 2 of the Los Angeles Grand Prix on Saturday saw two more Flagstaff-based runners achieve the Olympic standard, this time in the 1,500 meters.

Under Armour Dark Sky’s Susan Ejore, of Kenya, posted an eye-popping 3:58.63 to finish third in the elite 1,500, while teammate Katie Snowden, of Great Britain, also got the standard by running 4:00.89 to finish eighth. In all, nine women reached the Olympic standard.

In the men’s 1,500, Dark Sky’s Vince Ciattei finished seventh in 3:35.55.

— In the Brooklyn Half Marathon in New York, Flagstaff’s Kim Conley was the women’s winner by nearly 2 1/2 minutes, clocking 1:12:43.

— In London, at the Night of 10,000 PBs, U.S. Marathon Trials winner Fiona O’Keeffe was nipped in the home stretch by three-tenths of a second to finish second in 31:03.46. Flagstaff’s Stephanie Bruce, of Hoka NAZ Elite, struggled, finishing 20th in 32:22.45 — well off the U.S. Olympic Trials standard of 31:30. American Keira D’Amato dropped out.

— Flagstaff dominated Georgia’s Cruel Jewel Ultra (104 miles) north of Atlanta on Saturday. The overall women’s winner was Flag’s Sarah Ostaszewski in 24:50:52, beating the next woman by nearly three hours. Flagstaff’s Pete Mortimer was second overall with a time of 24:12:12.
