Results: CCC Comets Women and Men Third at ACCAC Meet; Ian, Emily Torrence Win at North Rim Ramble

Both the Coconino Community College women’s and men’s cross country teams finished in third place in their respective races at the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference meet at Glendale Heroes Regional Park.

Freshman Cian Davis led the Comets’ women, finishing 12th in 20:40 over the 5K course. Davis, three weeks ago, was named the ACCAC Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Embry Riddle Invitational.

Supporting Davis in Glendale were Comets’ Leah Redondo, Nizhoni Johnson and Amber Woody, who placed 18th and 23rd, respectively, in 22:253 and 23:27. Peyton Yazzie and Sierra Manygoats rounded out CCC’s scoring.

For the men, Theodore Round Face and Luca Onyejiaka finished 12th and 13th in 27:54 and 27:59. Other Comets scorers: Briley Dauphinais (16th), Kenneth Nez (25th) and Jehovan Flores (27th).

The women and men, both ranked 15th nationally, will next compete at the Highlander Invitational at U.C. Riverside.

— At the AZT North Rim Ramble on Sunday, Ian Torrence, now of South Dakota but still a Flagstaffian to many, won the AZT North Rim Ramble Marathon in 4:27:12. His wife, Emily Torrence, won the Half Marathon overall in 1:39:48. (Flagstaff’s Jackson Wolf was the top male in the half in 1:42:12.
