By this point, the Big Sky Conference must have its cross country and track and field Coach of the Year awards on a template. No matter the sport, NAU’s Mike Smith will win it.
Friday, Smith was named the Big Sky Coach of the Year for Indoors, as NAU swept both the women’s and men’s titles in commanding fashion. It’s Smith’s seventh straight men’s, and fourth straight women’s, indoor COY honor. The 204 points amassed by the NAU women last week in Spokane was the highest in Big Sky history.
The NAU men have a legitimate shot at reaching the podium, maybe even winning, at next week’s NCAA Nationals indoors. More on that here next week.
