Weekend Race Results

The professional results from an incredibly busy weekend are in other posts, but here is what else went on the roads, track and trails Saturday and Sunday. (Please email [email protected] if you want to add results missed below):

  • At the Tokyo Marathon, Flagstaff’s Larry Phoenix completed his sixth and final Abbott Marathon Majors. We’ll have an interview with Larry and more details up on the site on Tuesday.
  • How did Flagstaff ultra runner Pete Mortimer do at the Way Too Cool 50K in Auburn, Calif? He didn’t win. Nobody won. The race was canceled because of winds up to 60 mph. Race director Julie Fingar posted this on social media: “The creeks are running too fast, too cold and too deep to risk people’s safety in crossing them.”
  • At the Napa Valley Marathon and Half Marathon, Flagstaff pro runner Diane Nukuri jumped in the half marathon as a fun run and was the 15th woman finisher at 1:26:08. Flagstaff running maven Erin Strout also ran the half and finished in 2:06:31. In the marathon, Flag’s Mai-Te Coco finished in 4:38:42.
  • Two runners from Parks competed in the Lake Havasu Half Marathon: Jesse Williams (1:50:25) and Pete Asmus (2:14:34).
  • The Mountain to Fountain 15K down in the valley was won by Jeffrey Eggleston, 39, in 47:26. We can’t be certain (please confirm, knowledgable readers), but we believe it is the same Eggleston was once trained in Flagstaff under Jack Daniels and finished eighth in the 2014 Boston Marathon.
  • Only select runners from Northland Prep, Flagstaff High and Coconino High competed last Friday at the NPA Skydome Classic. The highlights: Coco’s Addison Stenman won the girls 3,200 in 13:01.65, wither NPA’s Jaelyn Weiss in second at 13:02.78; in the girls 1,600, NPA’s McKenna Marino finished second in 5:42.04; in the boys 1,600, NPA’s Aaron Nicol finished third in 4:51.18. Complete results here.

Some local top finishers: Girls 3,200 meters: 2nd: Emily Mullaney, Basis Flagstaff, 12:05.07, 6th: Jasmine Hall (yes, daughter of Sara and Ryan), Basis Flagstaff, 12:54.77; Boys 3,200: 11th: Laine Davis, Coconino, 10:21.46; 800 Meters: Girls 9th: Emily Mullaney, Basis Flagstaff, 2:38.68; Boys 14th: Nicholas Wolfe, Coconino, 2:07.25; 1,600 Meters: Girls 6th: Hall, Basis Flagstaff, 5:51.22; Girls 7th: Addison Stenman, Coconino, 5:51.67; Boys 23rd: Miguel Rodriguez Rosaro, Basis Flagstaff, 5:07.34. Fillresults here.
  • At the Momument Valley 50K trail race in Utah, 50 mph winds and blowing sand did not stop runners. Flagstaff’s Enrique Rubio, 41, finished sixth in 5:30:25.37. Laurie Baggerly, 38, was the top women’s Flagstaff finisher (12th overall female) at 7:33:10.71.
  • Scott Leonard, 30 of Flagstaff, finished 54th in the Red Mountain 50K near St. George, Utah. He ran 6:14:54.97, fifth in his age group.
