The Stanford Invitational, once the premiere track meet on the outdoor calendar for pros and collegiate runners alike, no longer holds such sway with pros, but the lineup for this weekend’s distance races are chock full of top NCAA performers from the West.
Count the NAU distance contingent in.
Of particular note: Sophomore Colin Sahlman is moving up to the 5,000, and it will be interesting to see how he does against the likes of Stanford’s defending NCAA Champ Ky Robinson and other top 5K men, including Washington’s Luke Houser, Oklahoma State’s Alex Maier and a flock of BYU runners. Oh, yeah, there are two guys named Young in that race — Stanford’s Leo and Lex, but no Nico. Sahlman figures to have a race-within-a-race with the twins, his former Newbury Park High School teammates.
