People always gripe about high race fees. An antidote is the annual late spring/summer Flagstaff Run Series. The package: five races for $175. These days, you can barely get one half marathon and maybe a small 5K for $175. Such a deal.
The brainchild of, among others, volunteer race director and NATRA honcho Neil Weintraub has bunched five races, from a trail half, to two trail 10Ks to a road 5K/10K and (of course) the Fourth of July Downtown Mile into a package. If you were to just sign up for August’s Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff Half Marathon, that would cost you $95. So it makes sense to spring for all five.
There are perks for signing up for the series, such as socks and a Pizzicleta pizza. But the real perk is saving a few bucks on race signups.
The five races (short course and long course, same price): Northland Hospice Run for Life 10K/5K (June 15 in downtown Flagstaff); the July 4 Team Run Flagstaff Downtown Mile; the Hopi Footprints 10K and 2 Mile Trail (July 20, Fort Tuthill); Machine Solutions Soldiers Trail 10K/5K (Aug. 3, Fort Tuthill); and the aforementioned BBBSF Trail Half Marathon and 5K on Mars Hill.
To register, go to run signup. Early-bird pricing ends March 13.
