Imogene Reduced to 14.2 Miles Due to Road Damage from Storm

Those Flagstaffians running the Imogene Pass Run in Colorado for the first time this Saturday and waiting to slap on that 17.1 oval bumper sticker will apparently have to settle for a “14.2” sticker this year.

A recent storm near Telluride caused damage to Tomboy Road near Royer Gulch, necessitating a change of route, according to race director John Jett. That means no one will be finishing in Telluride.

Instead, race officials have substituted the same course used in the storm-damaged 2006 event, which is an out and back with a “lollipop” loop that finished at the Ouray Hot Springs Park. Jett wrote on social media that bus service from Telluride to Ouray for the start and bck to Telluride will still be provided to registered runners.

It’s kind of a bummer for the record 228 runners from Flagstaff who are registered to run.
