Featured Race: Flagstaff Doggie Dash 5K and Buffaloops 12 hour, 6 hour, 3 hour, May 18, Buffalo Park, Flagstaff.
Participants will be panting in anticipation for our area’s only canine-inclusive race, the sixth Flagstaff Doggie Dash 5K at Buffalo Park, a site with a long history of critters wandering around. Of course, the dog’s human companions will be running alongside. Last year, Lindsay Nelson and her pup won in 17:34, seven seconds ahead of Chris Repka. There also is a non-canine 5K category.
Running simultaneously will be the Buffaloops timed races. Runners do laps around Buffalo Park for 12 hours, or 6 or 3. Pete Kostelnick won the 12-hour race last year, logging 78 miles. Jason Wheat (42 miles) won the 6-hour, and Flagstaff’s Morgan Mahn (25.9 miles) won the 3-hour.
