Two lectures ostensibly involving running will take place this week — divergent topics, to be sure, but important in their own right.
- Local marathoner Hosava Kretzmann (Hopi/Dine) will take part in a group discussion Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. on Zoom sponsored by the Native Health Initiative, based in Albuquerque. The topics: health and wellness, challenges for post-collegiate athletes, “living on the Rez and training at a high level.” Details can be found on the screenshot at the end of this post or here
- Flagstaff race director and retired Kaibab National Forest archeologist Neil Weintraub will give a lecture at the Sedona Heritage Museum on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 10 a.m about the history of the iconic Flagstaff to Grand Canyon Stagecoach Line 100 Mile, 55K, Relays & MTB Races. Much of the race goes along the Arizona Trail, and there may not be a more historic trail running course in the state.
