Dark Sky Distance’s Ciattei Beats Teammate Antsey in Speedy Armory Mile

In a final nod to the indoor season, Under Armour Dark Sky Distance sent four of its milers to the Armory in New York for the Trials of Miles Meet on Saturday night.

This last trip to the Big Apple paid off, as Dark Sky’s Vince Ciattei and Jack Antsey traded leads throughout. Ciattei, the former Virginia Tech star, took the victory in 3:50.56, Antsey, an Australian, just shy of a second back in 3:51.51.

Both improved on their mile times from previous meets this indoor season. Ciattei has had a steady progression. On Jan. 27 at the Dr. Sander Invitational, he ran 3:55.94 to finish fourth, and on Feb. 3 at Boston’s Scarlet and White Invite he ran 3:52.07 for third.

Antsey improved time from the Scarlet and White meet (3:52.28 then). Both Dark Sky runners also successfully held off Empire Elite’s Eric Holt, who was third the entire race. The other two Dark Sky runners, former Southern Utah University runner Kasey Knevelbaard and former Indiana All-American Ben Veatch finished fifth and sixth, respectively, both a tick above 3:56.
