Hall, Hagans, Nukuri Confirmed for Chicago Marathon

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon elite fields were announced Thursday, and three Flagstaff runners, all women, are confirmed — Sara Hall, Lauren Hagans and Diane Nukuri.

The men’s field also was announced, but no Flagstaff-based runners were named.

Hall, 41, is coming off a 15th place finish in April’s Boston Marathon in 2:27:58. That came two months after Hall finished fifth in the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2:26:06. Since then, she has raced shorter distances, running 31:32 for 10,000 meters on the track at The Ten in March, two 10K road races (10th at the Bolder Boulder in May and 11th in the Mastercard New York Mini) before placing third earlier this month at the Gold Coast Half Marathon in 1:10:54.

Hoka NAZ Elite’s Hagans, 38 and battling injury earlier this year, has not raced since dropping out of the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials at the 10-mile mark. Hagans’ marathon personal best came in 2023 at the Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, Minn., where she ran 2:25:56 to beat Dakotah Lindwurm, who would go on to finish third in the Trials and make the Olympic team.

Nukuri, 39, last raced a marathon last year in Chicago, finishing 22nd in 2:34:29.

Elite fields have not been released for two other major fall marathons, Berlin in September and New York City in November.

Among the Flagstaff-based marathoners who have yet to be confirmed for a fall marathon: NAZ Elite’s Futsum Zienasellassie, Matt Baxter and Nick Hauger for the men and Aliphine Tuliakmuk, Kellyn Taylor, Stephanie Bruce, Paige Wood and Alice Wright for the women; Dark Sky’s Matt Llano; Ryan Hall-trained Biya Simbassa; and Puma’s Molly Seidel.
