Final entries for the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, which begin next Friday in Eugene, Ore., are in, and Flagstaff-based distance runners are well represented.
A full list is below, by event, but here are some highlights: NAU will have five runners at the Trials: Nico Young (10,000 and 5,000), Alyson Churchill (10,000 and 5,000), Colin Sahlman (1,500), Maggi Congdon (1,500) and freshman Karrie Baloga (steeplechase).
A passel of Under Armour Dark Sky and Hoka NAZ Elite athletes will compete, as well as Mike Smith’s group. A few runners came close to qualifying but were bumped out, most notably McKirdy Trained’s Dani Polerecky (10,000) and NAU’s Annika Reiss (5,000).
Sara Hall had the Trials qualifying time in the 10,000 meters, but her name is not on the Trials start list.
