Flagstaffian Rory Linkletter, who soon is expected to be named to the Canadian Olympic marathon squad, raced for the first time since getting the Olympic standard in Seville. Saturday, he competed in the Gifu Half Marathon in Japan and finished 14th on 1:04:16.
Afterward, on Instagram, Linkletter wrote: “Not my best day, but also not my worst. Conditions and course made it pretty difficult early on, I had some unexpected difficulties and rallied to the end. I appreciate a good slice of humble pie to start a new training block, should help keep me sharp and focused on the difficult task that lies ahead.”
He next races two weeks hence in the Canadian National 10K against friend and rival Ben Flanagan.
