Saturday in Prescott, the Saddles 100 Mile and 50 Mile races went off in hotter-than-expected conditions, but that didn’t seem to affect the top runners much.
In the 100-Mile race, Flagstaff’s Bronson Fiore, 23, hovered in third place most of the day and into the night and finished in third in 23 hours 24 minutes 51 seconds, behind winner Patrick Kavanaugh and runner-up Chad Trumbo.
In the 50-Miler, the Ostaszewski sisters, both 33, placed first and second, with Flagstaff’s Melissa finishing in 9:21:13 to defend her Saddles title, and twin Sarah — now living in Durango, Colo. — coming in behind her in 9:35:57.
